Is Your Rental Really Ready? A Simple Move-In Checklist for Indian Harbour Beach Rental Owners
PROVIDED BY ELITE CLASS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT AND REAL ESTATE COMPANY™
A new resident is about to get the keys. First impressions matter, and small problems are much easier to fix in an empty home than after someone moves in. This simple checklist helps Indian Harbour Beach rental owners get a home clean, working and welcoming before move-in day.
START WITH A WALK-THROUGH
Walk every room: Bring a notepad or use your phone to list anything that needs attention.
Test as you go: Flip every light switch, open every door and window, and run every faucet.
Make a fix-it list: Group items into "fix now" and "check later."
CHECK THE BASICS THAT MATTER MOST
Smoke alarms: Press the test button on each one and replace batteries if needed.
Air conditioning: Change the filter and make sure the system cools well.
Water heater: Check that hot water reaches every faucet.
Plumbing: Look under sinks for drips and make sure toilets don't keep running.
CLEAN IT LIKE YOU'D WANT IT
Kitchen: Clean inside the fridge, oven, microwave and cabinets.
Bathrooms: Scrub tubs, showers, toilets and mirrors.
Floors and windows: Vacuum, mop and wipe window sills and tracks.
Outside: Sweep the entry, trim plants by the door and clear away yard debris.
TAKE CARE OF KEYS AND ACCESS
Change the locks or rekey: Consider doing this between residents so old keys no longer work.
Gather every key and remote: Include mailbox keys, gate remotes and pool keys if your community has them.
Reset codes: Change any keypad, garage or smart-lock codes. Never share passwords; move account access and change shared passwords instead.
TAKE MOVE-IN PHOTOS
Photograph every room: Take clear, dated photos of walls, floors, appliances and fixtures.
Save them in one folder: Label the folder with the address and date.
Note anything unusual: Write down small marks or wear so everyone starts on the same page.
MAKE IT WELCOMING
Leave a simple welcome sheet: List trash and recycling days, how to report a repair and the best way to reach you.
Include community info: If the home is in an HOA or condo, add the community's contact and any amenity details.
Ask your professionals: For questions about leases, insurance or anything legal, check with a licensed professional.
A little preparation before move-in day helps a new resident feel at home and helps you start the relationship on a positive note.
